What are heirloom portraits?
An heirloom portrait is a timeless, fine art portrait that captures a child's expression, emotion, and presence in a timeless, intimate way. It is characterized by the gradual fading of the edges of an image, eliminating distractions so the focus is on the details of the child's face - almost like a window to the soul.
Heirloom portraits are traditionally done on a white or light background. In my studio, you will have the choice of white or off white.

What age is best for heirloom portraits?
There is no wrong age, however the best age is between 6 months (sitting on their own) and 8 years. Often mamas like to have them done before their little one loses their baby teeth, but definitely before all of the sweet, soft traces of childhood are gone. I personally think heirloom portraits are beautiful at any age.
What should my child wear for an heirloom portrait?
The best attire for an heirloom is a classic piece of clothing, often with a collar, lace, and/or smocking. It is white, ivory, light blue, or light pink in color.
More details and links to my favorite local boutiques and online brands will be available to you in your session prep guide upon booking.

How do I display my
favorite heirlooms?
Heirloom vignettes are created to be printed, framed and displayed - not to live on your hard drive or social media. Allow me to handle the printing and framing to provide you with a beautiful piece of art that is ready to be displayed and enjoyed for generations.
